Animal parties & events in Warlingham

Birthday parties, group visits and animal events across Warlingham and Surrey

Parties, groups and events

We bring our animals to birthday parties, schools, scout and guide groups, care homes, fairs and corporate events across Surrey — or you can come to us in Warlingham for a private handling experience.

What to expect

  • Hands-on handling — reptiles, mammals, birds and more
  • Educational — habitats, diets, conservation and animal care
  • Inclusive — SEND-friendly, with reduced rates available
  • Safe & supervised — licensed, insured, Enhanced DBS checked staff

Party packages

Priced per party rather than per child, so you know the cost before you get in touch. Pick the one that fits your numbers — everything below is included in all of them.

You just need a rough idea of numbers, so you can pick the package that covers them. “Up to 10 children” means anything up to ten — so seven is absolutely fine, and the price is the same.

If more children end up coming than the package you booked, just message us before the date and we’ll move you up to the next one. It costs a bit more, and it means we bring enough handlers for everybody.

Booking online pays in full. Schools, nurseries, care homes and local authorities can be invoiced against a purchase order — get in touch and we will set that up rather than you booking through the website.

Every party runs for 60 minutes. The bigger packages cost more because we bring more handlers, not because they last longer — so a child in a group of thirty gets a similar amount of hands-on time to a child in a group of ten. There is still a little waiting between animals, as you would expect with a group, but with the extra handlers nobody is stuck in a long queue.

The Hands-On Party

from £250
Up to 10 children · 60 minutes · 2 handlers

Our most-booked party. Enough time for every child to meet and handle each animal properly, without anyone waiting their turn.

The Big Hands-On Party

from £300
Up to 15 children · 60 minutes · 2–3 handlers

The same party with extra handlers included, so a bigger group still gets the same amount of contact time each.

The Class Party

from £350
Up to 20 children · 60 minutes · 3–4 handlers

Suits a larger friendship group or a whole class. We bring more of everything and split into smaller handling groups.

The Whole Year Group

from £450
Up to 30 children · 60 minutes · 4–5 handlers

Our largest party, for a big celebration or a school or club group. Best in a hall or a large room.

What arrives, whichever package you choose

  • 10 species of your choosing, picked from over 30 — upgrade to 15 if you would like more variety. see the plain list of which animals travel (or browse them with photos), then tell us your favourites when you book
  • Hands-on handling for every child, led by a keeper, at each child’s own pace
  • Feeding where it suits the animal on the day
  • An educational talk pitched at the age group — simple and playful for nursery age, deeper on habitats, behaviour and conservation for older children and adults
  • Real specimens — skulls, sheds and curiosity pieces, if you would like more teaching and less handling. Just ask
  • Plenty of time for photos — share them wherever you like, no flash
  • No animal costs extra, including the big and unusual ones
  • Adults are not counted unless they join in, and spectators come free up to the same number as handlers
  • Everything we need to set up — wipeable mats, blankets, tables, transport enclosures, sanitiser and first aid
  • The first 10 miles of travel, and a full clean-up afterwards

Add-ons: party bags in several tiers. (The bathing experience is only available at our centre, not on mobile bookings.)

What everyone takes home

  • 🐾 Everyone gets a Pets on the Green sticker — our hedgehog design, “Look who I met at Pets on the Green”.

And for the birthday child

  • 🎂 A high-quality birthday sticker
  • 💌 A birthday card, written by Ciera
  • 🎁 A Pets on the Green keepsake — either our branded erasable ballpoint pen, black with matt green, or a Pets on the Green pin badge. We pick which on the day, depending on what we have with us.

Something different in mind? Adults-only parties, weddings and christenings, mixed groups, hospitals and specialist settings, or a party larger than 30 — those we quote individually. Tell us what you are planning.

Travel is charged per journey, not each way: the first 10 miles are included, then £35 for 11–20 miles, £60 for 21–30 and £90 for 31–45. We do not normally travel beyond 45 miles — but if you are further out it is worth asking, as a quicker motorway route with welfare stops and carefully chosen animals can sometimes work. We can’t guarantee it in advance.

Party bags

Our own Pets on the Green party bags, made up here rather than bought in — so they are animal-themed the whole way through, and they are not the same plastic bits every child already has at home.

What goes in them

  • Animal-themed items — the sort of thing children pick out in our shop after a session
  • Pets on the Green merchandise, including our handmade 25mm badges
  • Educational and activity bits — so there is something to do with it afterwards, not just something to lose

Contents vary a little with what we have in stock at the time. They come in several tiers so you can pick what suits your budget and your numbers.

Adding them to your party. Party bags are priced separately from the party itself and are arranged when you book — tell us how many children you are expecting and which tier you would like, and we will add it to your booking. Ask about party bags.

Schools, nurseries, clubs and care homes

Different from a party, and priced differently. Your own staff supervise the children; we deliver the animal handling and the teaching. Because the supervision burden sits with you, it costs less than a party of the same size.

Schools, nurseries, clubs & holiday clubs

from £250 per hour

Including VAT. At least 3 Pets on the Green staff on site, included.

  • Built around your timetable. For a multi-group day we run 45-minute sessions with 15-minute changeovers — cleaning, resetting the animals and settling the next group. Changeovers are charged as working time; a 30-minute staff and animal welfare break is not.
  • Curriculum links on request — habitats, adaptations, life cycles, classification, food chains, animal behaviour and conservation, pitched at the year group. Please ask in advance so we can tie it to what is being studied.
  • Real specimens — skulls, sheds and curiosity pieces. Please ask when you book if you would like these brought along. Workbooks to carry the learning on are coming soon.
  • Assemblies — whole-school or year-group, delivered with a headset mic, either before group sessions or on their own.
  • Clear supervision split. We lead all animal handling; your staff manage behaviour and supervision.
  • Paperwork brought to every visit — risk assessments, public liability insurance and our Animal Activities Licence, and sent ahead on request.

Care homes and day centres

from £225 per hour

Animals hand-picked for calm temperament and suitability around older residents. Where it is safe and the room allows, we bring animals directly to individual residents — wheelchair users, anyone bedbound, or anyone more comfortable in their own room — rather than expecting everyone to come to us.

Sudden vocalisations or movements do not stop someone taking part. Residents can watch, take breaks, or interact at their own pace.

Care home and day centre visits can be booked online with live prices and availability, or message us if you need an invoice or a purchase order.

Booking several sessions on one day costs less. One journey and one setup-and-pack-away covers all of them, rather than repeating the whole cycle each time — so several class sessions, or a full day and a half day together, are discounted. Bookings on separate dates are charged at the applicable rate for each.

Group visits can be booked online and paid in advance. If you need an invoice or a purchase order, message us and we will arrange it — we invoice local authorities directly and have done so.

After school club — coming soon

A weekly hands-on club for children who love animals. We’re working out the days and format now, and we’ll announce it here first.

Message us to hear before places go on sale.

What we need from your venue

We always need a comfortable indoor space as a backup, whatever the forecast. Outdoors only works when it is warm but not too hot — anything colder or hotter and we have to be inside. Please have a room available even if you are planning to be outside. Our van is heated and insulated for winter journeys, so cold weather isn’t the problem — it’s having a warm enough room at the other end. Hot weather is different; see our FAQ on high temperatures.

Worth sorting when you book rather than on the doorstep. We bring our own wipeable protective mats, so your flooring is not a problem — it is space and access that matter.

  • Enough safe floor space for your numbers. There is no universal minimum — tell us the room and the group size and we will tell you if it works. Children's sessions usually run as a U-shape with an opening for the keeper. A large classroom or hall suits schools; the largest suitable room suits home parties.
  • Children stay out during setup. Nobody is in the setup area while we unload and prepare the animals — everyone comes in once we are ready. Please plan for this, it is the detail most often forgotten.
  • Parking as close to the entrance as possible, since we carry carriers, equipment and presentation materials. On-road is fine if it is legal and unrestricted.
  • Tell us in advance about access — stairs, long distances from parking, narrow entrances, steps, no lift, doors that will not close, or large open halls with escape routes. A lift is strongly preferred if equipment has to go to another floor.
  • Electricity is not usually needed — we can bring a generator. But power is not a substitute for a suitable space: in extreme temperatures we need an appropriate indoor room regardless.
  • Food is welcome at your venue, before we arrive or after the session — just not around the animals. Birthday cake is absolutely fine at a mobile party.

We bring our own cleaning equipment and aim to leave the area looking as though we were never there. If a venue turns out not to be suitable on arrival, welfare and safety come first — we will adapt the session, or in exceptional circumstances stop it, so it is much better to talk the space through when you book.

Outdoor events depend on temperature. In hot weather some mammals may not be able to take part, and if it is too hot or too cold we will need an indoor space or a backup. We will always tell you in advance and bring alternatives.
