Which animals travel

The plain list — no photos, just what can come to you and what stays here

You choose up to 10 species for a mobile booking. Tell us your favourites when you book and we’ll bring them.

It can change on the day. They’re living animals — one might be unwell, having an off day, moulting, or simply not up for it. If that happens we bring something similar rather than turn up one short, and we’ll tell you. Let us know when you book if there’s anything you’d rather we didn’t substitute.

And it changes over time. Some of our species are naturally short-lived. If an animal has died, or has reached an age where sessions are too much for them, they come off this list — we’ll tell you before your booking and suggest someone similar.

⌛ Available sometimes — ask before you book

The spiders

Green bottle blue tarantula · Sazimi’s tarantula

These belong to one of our team, so they are only here on the days she is working — and she does not always bring them. They can be handled, and they can travel to mobile bookings. Please ask before you book if you would like to meet them, and we will tell you whether it is possible on your date.

The babies

Hoglets and sugar glider joeys don’t travel while they are small. They also aren’t here all year round — we only have them when we have had a litter, so they may not be available to meet at the centre either.

Ask when you book and we will tell you honestly what we have. Please don’t book expecting babies unless we have confirmed it.

The weather rule

We always need a comfortable indoor space as a backup — for every mobile booking, without exception. Outdoors only works when it is warm but not too hot. Anything colder or hotter than that and we have to be inside. Please have a room we can use even if you are hoping to be in the garden, because if there isn’t one we may not be able to run the session. Our van is heated and insulated for winter journeys, so cold weather isn’t the problem — it’s having a warm enough room at the other end. Hot weather is different; see our FAQ on high temperatures.

Indoor venues only, whatever the weather: sugar gliders, and every invertebrate except the millipedes and giant African land snails. For the invertebrates it is wind as much as temperature — outdoors they are an escape risk, and we would not get them back.

Everyone else is weather dependent. On a cold or wet day some species stay home — many of ours are cold-blooded and a long journey in the wrong temperature isn’t safe for them. We’ll always tell you in advance and bring alternatives.

Outdoor events depend on temperature too. In hot weather some mammals may not be able to take part.
